Mobilizing God's People to Joyfully Serve Him

First Baptist Church is unique in that it still has an Adult Choir that uses four part harmony music with a director which shares their worship in song usually each Sunday morning. There is a soprano, alto, tenor, and bass section; however, we welcome you to come and join us regardless of your singing part as we worship the Lord.

The choir practices each Sunday evening at 5:30 in the church sanctuary for an hour before Sunday evening services. Often there are solo parts needed which are shared among the choir members. We sing a variety of music from Mike Speck to old fashioned shape note songs.

Around September/October each year, we along with other community church choir members prepare a Christmas Cantata as we present the birth of Jesus in song. Our regular director Carlyle Walker gives up his normal directing position at Christmas and asks Chris Cochran, who is the local band teacher, to direct the Christmas Cantata.

In addition, we have a Praise Team who sings upbeat chorus and praise songs.  They sing each Sunday morning and practice Wednesday nights and briefly on Sunday morning before Sunday School.

I Peter 4:10-11

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
